Loot Whore

What is a Loot Whore?

Every time I roll on a item or bid for an item I have a friend that always pst's me "Loot Whore" It doesnt bother me cause I know he is just messin with me, but who doesnt want better loot?

I feel that we all raid for the loot. It gives us a way to show our accomplishments as a raiding guild of how far we have gone.

Now the Loot Whore is the person that never shows up to raids or jumps in on the second day of an instance and wants all the loots with out having to put in the work to get them. We have a couple in the guild and sometimes it does create drama but we always overcome.

So if there is Loot Whores in your guild, is there a Loot Pimp? Would this be the master looter? The raid leader? Or the person that refuses to take any gear until everybody gets their full set? I think it is the later. We do have a few people in the guild that feel this way and are always forced to take loot but they always feel bad for it. Sometimes this is just at bad as the loot whore. The pimp is only hurting guild proggression by not taking the loot to be on par with the rest of the raid.

Dude, your insane thinking one who does not eagerly accept or want gear is anywhere on the same level of a Loot Whore. If your referring to the same person I'm thinking of, the only reason why gear is passed on and given to others is because that individual has equivalent, if not, better gear and if anything... is assisting the guild in gearing out people who need it to get them up to par with the rest of the guild. This type of self-sacrifice and unselfishness enhances the guild and its members. I'll never do it, cause I'm selfish ;), but that type of behavior should be displayed by all. Now for those that pass on gear waiting for something else or specific gear, that's an entirely different motive all together. I think that's cheating progression and loot rotation, although there is still that fine line. So in closing, you're insane and watch out for that back hand from the Loot PIMP!

I do know where you are comming from with the individuals that pass gear up cause that have equivalent or better gear, but there is a couple of people that it seems like (my personal veiw) they are forced to take gear cause they would rather see others get the loot first. I think it is really great that they would do that, cause it builds comradery(?) amongst the class but we have a loot rotation for a reason and it kinda bucks the system.

Ah, ok... well those kind of people just need help and military boot camp. BTW, buck this!

The only serious raiding guild I've ever been in was based on a merit system instead of DKP.

We didn't have a "Guild Master", but instead had 8 class leaders that would distribute loot to their class based off a few factors; these factors included 1) Sonority 2) Attendance 3) Class Skill.

BTW, great blog. Keep up the good post!

This system worked GREAT, except for the Paladin class in which the class leader was a "Loot Whore". He would take 'secondary' epics when he had Pallies with blues.

The merit system is only as strong as the people running it, and it's hard to not find selfish people when the color purple is involved.

To me, a loot whore is the person that goes to the raid when they know that they are either a) on top of the loot rotation or b) the content is on farm and they know they can just pick up easy epics. These people doesn't add to the progress of the guild because they are only there when it is to their benefit.
